Mike Frier, the Seahawks tackle paralyzed from the waist down in a Dec. 1 car wreck, was transferred to a Seattle hospital for rehabilitation… . Mariners pitching prospect Mac Suzuki was back home in Kobe, Japan, last week, but returned to Seattle for therapy on a shoulder problem before Tuesday’s devastating earthquake. Suzuki hasn’t pitched for the Mariners in the major leagues yet, but is considered one of the franchise’s bright young minor-league pitching prospects.

Charles Chandler resigned as the head track and field coach for men and women at Central Washington University to become an assistant football coach at Utah State. Chandler, 32, will be replaced by 26-year-old Kevin Adkisson, a Chandler assistant since 1992. Adkisson was the CWU cross country coach last fall. Chandler had been the head track coach since 1990.
