Man To Plead Guilty In Car Death

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Bonners Ferry man accused of driving under the influence of drugs is expected to plead guilty to vehicular manslaughter, a Kootenai County prosecutor said Thursday.

Lester Poston has agreed to plead guilty to the felony charge, which could land him in prison for a maximum of 10 years, said Lee Croft, deputy prosecutor.

Sandra L. Perkins of Careywood was driving her car south on U.S. Highway 95 in early August, according to an Idaho State Police report. Poston, who was driving north, crossed the center line and struck Perkins’ car head-on, according to the report.

Perkins died at the scene.

Blood tests done on Poston showed that he was under the influence of methamphetamine and marijuana, according to court records.

Poston is scheduled to enter his plea Feb. 14.
