Alpine skiing

Cool weather and an abundance of new snow this week has created excellent conditions at area resorts. THE NEED FOR 49 Degrees North will be hosting a college race this weekend and Mission Ridge will be having the Northwest Cup Olympic qualifying race today and Saturday.

Schweitzer has reduced night skiing hours to 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. every ThursdaySaturday. Adult lift tickets have been reduced to $10 and students are $7.

Nordic skiing

Trails at Mount Spokane were groomed Thursday after a foot of snow fell

Wednesday night. Conditions are excellent. Updates 238-4025.

Intense grooming in the Methow Valley this week has created excellent conditions on the 176-kilometer trail system. Sun Mountain, Patterson Lake and Methow trails continue to be the most crowded. Updates:(800)682-5787.

Trails in the Priest Lake area are freshly groomed and in good condition. ADOPTA-TRAIL volunteers are needed for track setting and maintenance. Info: (208)443-6840.

Snowmobiling

Recent snow and grooming have covered last week’s ice, and trails throughout

the region are reportedly in excellent condition. Mount Spokane was regroomed this week. Hotline: 456-5786.

Sledders around Priest Lake: watch for logging activity on the East side.

Methow Valley limited grooming this week to Peacock Meadows and the new Crawfish Lake area.
