Anti-Alcohol Ads Planned

From Staff And Wire Reports

The state Department of Health will try to combat advertising promoting alcoholic beverages by running ads of its own during the Super Bowl.

The Department purchased nearly two minutes of advertising to counter pro-alcohol advertising during the Jan. 29 game. It paid $83,000 for the spots to be shown on KOMO in Seattle, KXLY in Spokane and KAPP in Yakima.

“It is time to call the alcohol industry to task,” said Dr. Mimi Fields, a state health officer.
