Carrousel Closed For Repairs

From Staff And Wire Reports

The carrousel at Riverfront Park is closed until Feb. 4 for annual maintenance.

In addition to the routine mechanical work, some of the carrousel horses will be restored, according to a statement from Riverfront Park maintenance officials.

Some horses will be completely restored, and repairs to the legs of most of the horses will be required, according to the statement. Most broken legs occur as a result of careless riders who use the 85-year-old legs as steps to mount the horses

More than 300,000 people ride the 54 carrousel horses a year.
