Trio Tied At Telecom

Compiled From Wire Services

Brett Ogle and Jim Gallagher Jr. pulled into a share of the lead of the Northern Telecom Open in Tucson, Ariz., with Phil Mickelson, taking advantage of the lefthander’s uncharacteristically erratic play.

All were at 201 after 54 holes.

Pullman’s Kirk Triplett was 13 strokes behind at 214.

At Orlando, Fla., Beth Daniel got her game under control and turned in a 2-under-par 70 and grabbed the secondround lead in the HealthSouth Inaugural Golf Tournament.

Playing on Walt Disney World’s Eagle Pines Course, Daniel, last year’s LPGA Player of the Year, took advantage of an early tee time and spikeless greens to post her score that added up to a 36-hole total of 3-under 141.

Rathdrum’s Tracy Hanson’ two-round total of 152 missed the cut by one stroke.

At Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Fred Couples, playing what he called a “great round” of 4-under-par 68, tied Scotland’s Colin Montgomerie for the lead after three rounds of the Dubai Desert Classic.

The leaders had 54-hole totals of 14-under 202 going into today’s final round of the $675,000 tournament.

Tied for third at 203 were Australian Greg Norman and defending champion Ernie Els of South Africa. Els closed with a 67, Norman fired a 69.
