Cleveland Cavaliers guard Mark Price had a screw inserted into the broken bone in his right wrist and is expected to be out for six to eight weeks. The surgery at the Cleveland Clinic went extremely well, according to team physician Robert Dimeff. Price’s wrist was placed in a soft dressing, and he was to remain at the clinic overnight… . Colorado Rockies outfielder Ellis Burks continues to make progress from surgery on his left wrist four months ago, but the healing has been slower than expected.

Burks likely won’t be ready for opening day on April 4, even if the strike is settled. … Tim Gullikson, coach of top-ranked Pete Sampras, was admitted to the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center for tests.

Gullikson had been coaching Sampras in the Australian Open last week when he had a dizzy spell that doctors thought might have been related to a heart condition and two recent strokes.
