Comatose Woman’s Ring Stolen

Compiled From Wire Services

Someone stole the engagement ring off the finger of a comatose 87-year-old woman who was near death, authorities said.

“It’s about the only important thing she has,” Anna Sawicki’s granddaughter, Cindy Kin, said. “We’d like to get the ring back on her finger before she dies.”

The ring, a replica of a 1932 West Point class ring, was taken late Wednesday or early Thursday at York Hospital. Police and hospital authorities searched fruitlessly for the ring Friday.

Sawicki received the ring, and a marriage proposal, from Stanley Sawicki after he graduated from the military academy.
