Nic’s Williams Joins The 700 Club With Win

Rolly Williams got his 700th coaching victory as visiting North Idaho College defeated Treasure Valley 101-76 in men’s basketball Friday night in Ontario, Ore.

Eddie Turner led the way with 20 points as all five Cardinals starters scored in double figures.

NIC stretched out a 51-41 lead in the second half as Teodor Russinov scored 17 points and teammate Roy Kruiswyk added 16.

NIC limited the Chukars to 27-of-73 shooting from the field, while the Cardinals were 40 of 79.

The Cardinals held a slight rebounding edge, 46-42, as Kruiswyk grabbed a game-high 11.

Jason Perry came off the bench to score a team-leading 21 points for Treasure Valley. Teammate Telly Davenport added 19.

Williams is fourth among active coaches and eighth all-time for victories in the National Junior College Athletic Association.

NIC women’s basketball: Also in Ontario, Ore., Stephanie Suter scored 18 of her 25 points in the second half to lead the Cardinals past Treasure Valley 80-77.

Suter pulled down nine rebounds in the first half and eight in the second as NIC outrebounded the Chukars 61-24.

The Cardinals shot 32 of 73 from the field, while Treasure Valley was 19 of 60.

Julie Wilkins had a team-leading five assists for NIC

Track and field: The University of Idaho hosted the first day of the Moscow-McDonald’s Scoring Invitational in the Kibbie Dome in Moscow, Idaho.

The meet features eight teams from throughout the Northwest. It concludes today beginning at 9:30 a.m. with field events and running events at 10.

Niels Kruller won the long jump for Idaho with a mark of 25-7-1/2, which qualifies him for the NCAA Indoor Championships. Kruller was the Vandals’ lone event winner on the first day.

Boise State posted four individual champions, while Montana State had three.

The University of Washington won both the men’s and women’s distance medley relays.
