Floyd, Nicklaus Hit It Rich

Compiled From Wire Services

Raymond Floyd, picking up where he left off on the final day of the Senior Skins Game a year ago, rolled in three birdie putts to win $130,000 on the opening day of the 1995 event.

After a rocky start, Jack Nicklaus earned $80,000 by winning the seventh and eighth holes.

Arnold Palmer, just getting over a twoweek bout with sinus problems, and Lee Trevino, coming back from November neck surgery, each were shut out. Today, $330,000 of the $540,000 purse will be up for grabs over the second nine holes of the two-day tournament at the Mauna Lani Resort course.

At 52, three years younger than Nicklaus and Trevino and 13 years Palmer’s junior, Floyd earned three skins worth a total of $60,000 on No. 3, two skins worth $40,000 on No. 5, and another skin worth $30,000 on the ninth.
