Wenatchee Shoots Down Sasquatch

Brent Darnell scored 21 points and Wenatchee Valley Community College took advantage of five missed free throws by the Community Colleges of Spokane over the last 3 minutes Saturday night to defeat the Sasquatch 90-85 in an NWAACC game.

Damian Schug led CCS with 17 points and Ben Morgan added 16.

With the Sasquatch leading 68-67 with 10 minutes to go, Kai Knell followed a teammate’s miss and Darnell (8 of 13 from the field) went to work on the perimeter to take control for the Knights.

Knell finished with game highs for points (23) and rebounds (13), and the Knights improved to 4-3 in NWAACC play and 10-9 overall.

CCS was hurt when it lost Jed Palmer, who was held to seven points on 2-of-8 shooting, to fouls late in the game.

Dean Smith contributed 13 points and Chad Goldsmith had eight rebounds for the Sasquatch, who fell to 2-5 and 5-14.
