The death toll rose to 19 on Sunday from the sudden collapse of a six-story apartment building in a southern resort town.
The building in Guaratuba, 500 miles south of Rio de Janeiro, collapsed Saturday morning. Police said construction workers were in the building at the time to reinforce the structure after residents had reported several cracks in the concrete base.
Six people were confirmed dead Saturday, and crews used cranes and helicopters to search for others.
TV Globo reported the death toll reached 19 on Sunday. No one else was believed still trapped.
