East Rebounds For B-8 Victory

The East spotted the West 14 points than scored the next four touchdowns on its way to a 32-26 victory in the State B-8 All-Star Football Game Friday night.

Waitsburg quarterback Robert Hinchliffe threw a 31-yard TD pass to Brent Wogen of LaCrosse-Washtucna and a 48-yard TD pass to Adrian McArthur of Colton to bring the East within 14-12 at the half.

Gene Korby scored from 2 yards out and Hinchliffe ran 58 yards for another score and a 24-14 lead after three quarters.

The West rallied on a 19-yard scoring run by Brent Kubalek of Crescent before Hinchliffe found Waitsburg teammate Jeremy Riggs for a 2-yard touchdown pass and a twopoint conversion pass.

The West closed the scoring on a 2-yard run by Josh Draper of Entiat. Its first two scores in the first half came on a 5-yard run by Tim Corey and a 31-yard pass play to Kubalek from Draper.

McArthur was honored as the East’s offensive MVP with 10 carries for 125 yards plus his TD reception.

Hinchliffe threw just six times but completed five for 108 yards and two scores while running three times for 70 yards.

The East defensive MVP was Odessa linebacker Deric Schmierer.

The West offense was led by MVP Don Elliott of Pe Ell who had 97 yards.
