Flyers Out $5.5 Million

Compiled From Wire Services

Former Philadelphia Flyer Glen Seabrooke won a $5.5 million malpractice award against ex-team doctor John Gregg.

Seabrooke was the Flyers’ first-round pick and 21st overall in the 1985 entry draft. He divided time between the NHL and the minors and was injured in a minor-league game in November 1988.

After his left shoulder jammed into a goal post, Seabrooke was diagnosed with torn cartilage and was sent to Gregg. Aggressive physical therapy just caused more damage, according to Seabrooke.

Three operations later, Seabrooke was told he would never have full use of his left arm and has never been able to regain shoulder movement. Flyers spokesman Zach Hill said he was unfamiliar with the case and could not comment.
