Ryan Lunen Mullan, Idaho
Memorial service for Ryan Edward Lunen, 17, will be today at 1 p.m. at the Mullan Pavilion. Shoshone Funeral Service in Wallace is in charge of arrangements.
Ryan, who was born in Silverton, Idaho, died in a car accident in Wallace Tuesday night.
He recently graduated from Mullan High School and had planned to attend Boise State University in the fall.
Ryan was a member in the rock band “Encore” and also belonged to the pep band and ski club. He had been a Cub Scout and Boy Scout.
He was employed by McDonald’s restaurant in Kellogg.
He was a charter member of the Drug Stompers of Wallace through the Elks Club and attended the United Church of Christ in Wallace. He was a member of the Beta Pods church group.
Ryan loved sports, foosball, fishing, camping and music.
Survivors include his parents, Dale and Arlene; four brothers, Tony of Mullan, and Bob, Bill and Rob of Yakima; sister, Jolene of Yakima; grandparents Roxy Finneman and Jim Slagle of Sandy, Ore., Walt Hendryx of Silverton and Nat and Dina Lunen of Spokane; and great-grandmothers Mary Lunen of Mullan and Juanita Brown of Pomeroy, Wash.
Memorials may be sent to the Ryan Lunen Scholarship Fund at any West One Bank in the Silver Valley.
Eugene ‘Bus’ Shankle Spokane
Service for Eugene Ray “Bus” Shankle, retired Air Force senior master sergeant, is set for 11 a.m. Monday at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
Mr. Shankle,73, died Thursday at home.
He was born in Fremont, Neb.
Mr. Shankle served in the Air Force for 25 years.
He served in World War II and earned a Bronze Star.
He also worked for 16 years at Fairchild Air Force Base as a civilian.
Mr. Shankle was a member of the Non-commissioned Officers Association and the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Kay Shankle; two sons, Michael Shankle of Mead and Ricky Shankle of Spokane; one brother, William Ray Jr. of Puyallup, Wash.; one sister, Shirley Boesen of Tacoma; and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane or St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
Helen Citkovich Colville, Wash.
Burial Mass for Helen Elizabeth Citkovich, 91, is planned for 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colville. Graveside service will follow at Mountain View Park Cemetery, Colville. Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Citkovich, who died Wednesday, was born in Excelsior, Minn.
She had lived in Colville since 1918 and had worked in her mother’s restaurant.
She and her husband, John, operated Colville Monument Works for 43 years and sold the business to their son, Jack, in 1966.
Her husband died in 1976.
Mrs. Citkovich was a member of Immaculate Conception Altar Society, the Colville Library Club, the Colville Improvement Club and the Garden Homes HomeEc Club.
She is survived by one son, Jack Citkovich of Colville; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Robert Goelzer Twin Lakes, Idaho
At his request, no service will be held for Robert Goelzer, 63, who died Wednesday following an extended illness. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Goelzer was born in Puyallup, Wash., and moved to this area in 1959.
He owned and operated Tyrol Forests tree farm for many years.
Survivors include his mother, Faye Goelzer of Puyallup; one brother, William Goelzer of Puyallup; one sister, Georgina Colon of Marysville, Wash.; several nieces and nephews.
Sam ‘Skip’ Elsom Jr. Elk
Service for Sam Edwin “Skip” Elsom Jr., 34, is planned for 2 p.m. today at Peaceful Valley Church near Elk. Graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Newport (Wash.) Cemetery. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home, Newport, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Elsom was shot Wednesday in Airway Heights.
He was born in Spokane and graduated from Deer Park High School.
He was a member of the Professional Rodeo Circuit Association and the Montana Rodeo Association.
Mr. Elsom had lived in Elk for eight years and was a truck driver. He had driven for Global Van Lines for the past nine years.
He is survived by his wife, Christine; one son, Erik, and one daughter, Lisa, both at home; his father, Sam Elsom of Spokane; his mother, Christine Bolich of Mead; his stepfather, Harold Leslie of Issaquah, Wash.; one brother, Norman Leslie of Diamond Lake, Wash.; one sister, Elizabeth Elsom of California; one stepbrother, Kevin Schelling of Auburn, Wash.: one stepsister, Tami Flugel of Spokane; and his grandmothers, Josephine Martin of Colbert and Mildred Miles of Spokane.
Ray Low Endicott, Wash.
Service for Ray Low, 77, is set for 11 a.m today at Trinity Lutheran Church in Endicott. Burial will follow at Endicott Cemetery. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax, Wash., is in charge of the arrangements.
Born in Addy, Wash., Mr. Low died Tuesday at Whitman Hospital and Medical Center in Colville.
He had worked as a truck driver and store clerk and also worked for Whitman County.
He moved to Endicott in 1988.
His first wife, Margaret, died in 1986. His second wife, Vera, died in 1988.
Mr. Low is survived by his wife, Genie; one son, Karl “Butch” Low of Pomeroy, Wash.; one daughter, Peggy Ray Collier of Gig Harbor, Wash.; two stepchildren; one brother, Merle Low of Seattle; two sisters, Helen Courtney of Everett and Gladys McDonald of Cashmere, Wash.; nine grandchildren, nine stepgrandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two step-greatgrandchildren.
