A federal judge in Tampa, Fla., agreed to voluntary dismissal of lawsuits by former NFL players Sterling Sharpe and Richard Dent, who went to court after they were released because of injuries. The two were cut in February, Sharpe by the Green Bay Packers and Dent by the San Francisco 49ers, and sued the NFL and the NFL Players Association, saying they were denied due process… . The Chicago Bulls traded power forward Corie Blount to the Los Angeles Lakers for future considerations.

In Atlanta, a U.S. District Court jury ruled in favor of Dennis Rodman in a suit brought by Lisa Beth Judd, who was seeking $1.83 million in damages. Jurors deliberated less than four hours after four days of testimony.

Judd claimed Rodman infected her with the incurable sexually transmitted disease Jan. 14, 1993, while he was in town with the Pistons to play against the Hawks.
