Raise Your Voice For A Chance To Join Ewu Girls Chorus

The Eastern Washington University Girls Chorus is currently holding auditions in the EWU Music Building for girls ages 10-15 to participate in its ensemble.

Auditions close July 10.

Those interested must prepare a song one to three minutes long.

An accompanist will be provided at the audition.

Rehearsals begin in September.

The Ballet Arts Academy, 408 W. Sprague, begins its Intermediate/Advanced Ballet Summer Workshop on July 10.

Students can enroll for one, two or three weeks.

Young shutter-bugs

St. George’s High School in Spokane recently placed third in the Washington State High School Photography Competition.

Shadle Park High School tied for fourth place with Port Townsend High School.

Lakeside High School in Seattle place first.

Over 1,200 photographers and 38 high schools entered the contest, which was sponsored by Rainier Photographic Supply in Seattle.

The winning schools and photographers will be awarded over $1,000 in cash and prizes.

Off his rocker

Michael Neiman, a Spokane woodworker known for sculptural rockers, has a number of other creations on exhibit at the Pioneer Square Gallery in Seattle.

Art by the river

Artists interested in participating in the a.m. Art by the River festival, a juried art show, sponsored by the St. Maries Council for the Arts, must submit their work by July 8. For more information, call (208) 245-3417 or (208) 245-4045.

Grants awarded

The Network for Local Arts in Washington State has awarded $10,600 in grants to arts organizations in six communities as part of its Rural Culture Network Program.

The two Inland Northwest recipients are:

The Old Hotel in Othello, $350 for a summer youth photography program and a traveling photography exhibit.

Metaline Falls’ Cutter Theatre, $1,500 to establish and implement a marketing plan for a dinner theater.

Call for scripts

The Northwest Playwright’s Guild is accepting scripts of any length from Northwest playwrights for its New Play Buffet of staged readings this fall in Seattle.

Northwest Playwrights Guild members can enter for free; otherwise, submittal cost is $25. Deadline is July 15.
