Sentences Extended In Ira Bomb Case

Two Irish nationals were sentenced to up to 19 more months in prison for buying 2,900 bomb detonators intended for the Irish Republican Army.

Seamus A. Moley, 36, and Kevin J. McKinley, 38, pleaded guilty to buying 2,500 electronic detonators and 400 fuse detonators in 1989 from an Arizona company and then shipping them by Greyhound bus to New York City.

Prosecutors contended the detonators were then sent to Ireland, where the Irish Republican Army used them in bombs planted in Northern Ireland and an unexploded bomb found in a London telephone booth.

The men face deportation after their terms.
