Still No Trace Of Missing Plane

From Staff And Wire Reports

A two-day air search has failed to find a single-engine plane believed to have gone down in the Olympic Mountains.

The Bonanza BE35, carrying a Houston-area couple, left Fairbanks, Alaska, on June 20 en route to Houston. The plane refueled at Jefferson County International Airport near Port Townsend and continued south that evening.

Radar at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station last tracked the plane around Mount Turner, about six miles southwest of Quilcene, in the Olympics.

The plane’s next stop was believed to be Eugene, Ore., although no flight plan was filed in Jefferson County, said Mac McGiver of the Aviation Division of the state Department of Transportation.

The couple’s family reported the plane missing Wednesday. The names of the couple weren’t released.
