Jalabert Sprints To Lead

Italy’s Mario Cipollini won the second stage of the Tour de France in another sprint finish, while France’s Laurent Jalabert took over the leader’s yellow jersey in the cycling classic.

Cipollini finished just ahead of another Italian, Giovanni Lombardi, with Djamolidine Abdoujaparov of Uzbekistan third in the second stage of 146 miles from Perros Guirec to Vitre.

Fabio Baldato of Italy, winner of the first stage Sunday, was fourth.
