Local Students Receive State Grange Scholarships
The following students have received Washington State Grange Scholarships:
Sheri Babb, Cheney, a three-year Delpha Goude (agricultural) Scholarship of $750 each year. She will be a sophomore at Washington State University in the fall majoring in agricultural biotechnology. She is the daughter of David and Kathleen Babb, members of East Cheney Grange.
The recipients of one-year $500 Delpha Gounde Scholarships are:
Christa Countryman, daughter of Dale and Kathy Countryman, Lamont (Wash.) Grange members, recently graduated from Harrington High School in Whitman County.
Andrea Crumpler, daughter of Brad and Sylvia Crumpler, Half Moon Grange, Spokane County, will be a senior at Seattle Pacific University in the fall where she is majoring in social work.
Robert Hudkins, a recent graduate of Liberty High School in Spangle, plans to attend Washington State University in the fall to study zoology and secondary education. He is the son of Robert and Marilyn Hudkins, Spangle Grange in Spokane.
Jerry Kane, son of Patrick and Jennie Kane, members of Tekoa (Wash.) Grange in Whitman County, recently graduated from Tekoa High School and plans to attend Spokane Community College to student natural resources and soils.
Sharilyn Stark, currently attending Spokane Community College, plans to transfer to Eastern Washington University to major in business and health administration. She is a longtime member of Moran Prairie Grange in Spokane County.
Melanie Lund, majoring in secondary education at Eastern Washington University with a minor in Spanish. She is the daughter of Martin and Charlene Lund, members of Tyler Grange in Spokane County.
Christina Cogswell, a recent graduate of Shadle Park High School, recently was awarded a $500 Marion & Snowie Vanderpool Scholarship. She plans to attend Spokane Falls Community College, and is the daughter of Darrell and Jackie Cogswell, members of Espanola Grange.
Nancy Houser and Renee Dougherty received $500 academic Women’s Activities scholarships. Dougherty recently graduated from Reardan (Wash.) High School and plans to major in speech therapy at Eastern Washington University. She is the daughter of Jerry and Linda Dougherty, members of Spring Creek Grange in Lincoln County. Houser is a recent graduate of West Valley High School and belongs to East Spokane Grange is Spokane County. She was also chosen the 1995 Spokane Interstate Fair Princess. She plans to study music therapy at Whitworth College. She is the daughter of Nancy Ruddy.
Lisa Evans received a one-year $500 Nob Hill Scholarship. She plans to continue her education at Washington State University majoring in criminal justice with a minor in political science. She is the daughter of Carol Evans, member of McIntosh Grange in Spokane.
Erik Stark, a recent graduate of University High School, plans to enter the pre-pharmacy program at Western Washington University. He is the son of Daniel and Sharilyn Stark, members of the Moran Prairie Grange, Spokane County.
