Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Stealing Inflatable Doll

From Staff Reports

A Spokane man was arrested early Wednesday on suspicion he stole an inflatable plastic doll and two adult magazines from the Erotique Boutique.

Joshua M. Doherty, 20, 2714 E. 18th, also was arrested on charges of attempting to elude police and stealing a car, sheriff’s Lt. David Wiyrick said.

About 1 a.m., sheriff’s deputies got a report of a man who had stolen “Super Shirley,” a plastic blow-up doll, and two magazines from the adult store at 8112 E. Sprague.

The suspect was seen leaving the shop in a white Toyota pickup with a taillight out. Minutes later, Sgt. Pete Bunch spotted the truck at 8500 E. Trent.

Bunch began following the pickup and learned it was stolen.

The suspect tried to escape pursuing deputies, driving at speeds of 70 mph south on Dishman-Mica Road to state Highway 27 south through Mica.

After turning onto a dead-end road, Doherty jumped out of the pickup and tried to escape, but soon tripped and fell, injuring himself. The truck continued rolling and struck a railroad sign after he jumped out.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Doherty and found the stolen items, including the deflated “plastic sex doll” in the truck, Wiyrick said.

Doherty received stitches on his face at Valley Hospital and Medical Center before he was booked into jail.
