Kasparov Wants To Be Master Of All He Surveys

World chess champion Garry Kasparov will defend his title from the top of the World Trade Center in New York instead of in Cologne, Germany, because of the stunning views, officials said Friday.

Kasparov will take on Indian challenger Vishy Anand for the title and a $1.5 million prize on the observation deck of the center beginning Sept. 10.

The Professional Chess Association said New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani unexpectedly offered the World Trade Center last month.

“The views over Manhattan are stunning,” chess association Chairman Bob Rice said in a statement released in London.
