Needle Containers To Be Recalled

Becton Dickinson & Co. said Friday it would recall thousands of containers used to dispose of contaminated needles after an advocacy group found the needles could pierce the thin containers.

Becton Dickinson officials said they had known about the defective containers since last December.

The Food and Drug Administration is investigating whether the company gave false information to the government, and, if so, whether charges will be filed against Becton Dickinson or the manufacturer, Medafe Inc. of Oceanside, Calif.
