Pierce Strikes Out 15 In Sfcu Legion Win

Gil Pierce struck out 15 and walked just two to lead Spokane Federal Credit Union to a 4-1 American Legion baseball victory over Olympic Sports.

Brian Miller drove in two runs.

Also at CV, Chapter Eleven edged Spokane Athletic Supply 3-2 on Garrett Wideman’s fielder’s choice in the sixth. The winning run followed Chris Wilson’s game-tying RBI single, which scored Steve Schaber.

Aaron Hancock struck out six, facing 13 batters in four innings to beat Monte Morgan, whose complete-game three-hitter wasn’t rewarded.

At Gonzaga, Ray Hattenburg’s two-run triple in the third complemented Jeff Rinck’s three-hitter as M&L Construction dismissed Washington Trust Bank 7-3.

Rinck struck out four and added an RBI, as did Larry Carnahan, Rob Elmer and John Barneson.

At Jackson Field, Scott’s Custom Homes clipped Job Quest 8-6, scoring seven runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Jeremy Gilrein went 3 for 5 with two RBIs and Scott’s teammate Mark Miller went 3 for 4.
