Two Teenagers Attacked In Similar Incidents

Sheriff’s deputies are calling separate attacks on two teenagers in the Spokane Valley related.

In both cases, a group of men was seen in a red Honda Prelude and a lowered, white and purple Chevrolet Blazer and the victims were hit in the head by clubs.

One of the victims was bashed in the head with a hammer in an alley near Euclid and Argonne Road, said Sheriff’s department spokesman Lt. David Wiyrick.

The 18-year-old victim was a passenger in a car that was pulling out of the alley when they were confronted by a group of men.

A half dozen men - one of which was toting a hammer - paraded down the alley. The attacker, who deputies described as a short, Mexican man, swung the hammer at the driver, before striking the passenger, Wiyrick said.

Deputies said the group wore gang-related attire.

Later Monday, a 17-year-old youth was smacked in the head with a baseball bat during a fight at an apartment complex in the 11900 block of east Broadway.

Witnesses told deputies about 15 weaponwielding men attacked four others at the complex about 9 p.m. Deputies recovered several bats, a hammer and a knife at the complex.

Deputies said the fight started at NorthTown Mall, where two of the men involved squared off earlier Monday evening.

Deputies arrest two after traffic stop

Two teenagers were arrested Tuesday after the car they were in was stopped for a traffic violation in the 11200 block of East Grace.

A 17-year-old girl was charged with possession of a controlled substance. Deputies said they found methamphetamines in her backpack. She was taken to Spokane County Juvenile Detention.

Harry Eck, 19, was also arrested on an outstanding warrant and taken to Spokane County Jail, where he was released on bail.

Man beaten, gun stolen at party

A 32-year-old man was hit in the back of the head with a baseball bat and a shotgun was stolen from a Valley house during an early morning keg party last Saturday.

The homeowner said he saw a man hit the victim with a small bat. After checking to make sure the victim was okay, the homeowner went to get his shotgun. He planned to fire the gun to scare the attacker away.

The homeowner, who had invited patrons of a local bar to come to his house on the 300 block of South Bowdish for the party, discovered the shotgun was missing and called deputies.
