Kansas City Schedules Tryout Camp On July 28

The Kansas City Royals, parent team of the Spokane Indians, will conduct a tryout camp July 28 at 10 a.m. at Seafirst Stadium.

Participants should supply their own equipment and plan on a 3-hour session, the length depending upon the turnout. The camp is generally intended for players ages 16-22. American Legion players need written permission from their coach to participate.

BASKETBALL

Chris Boone and Jeremy Landram of Chewelah High School and Casey Ahrens of Riverside are part of a Basketball Congress International team scheduled to play in two tournaments later this month.

The nine-member team, guided by Chewelah coach Drew Landram, will play at the Nike Tournament in Las Vegas from July 15-23 and at the BCI Tournament in Phoenix from July 24-31.

There is room for one additional player on the team, which needs additional sponsorship money. Other current team members are: Chris Ammons (Olympia), Jeremy Johnson (West Valley-Yakima), Jordan Lasamas (Okanogan), Billy Landram (North Mason) and Matt Shifflet (Brewster).

VOLLEYBALL

Amy Cornett, who has spent the last three years in the Toledo, Wash., school district, has been named new volleyball coach at Cheney High School.

Cornett is a graduate of Central Washington University, where she also played volleyball.
