Ashe Homers In Seventh To Beat M&L; Construction

Preston Ashe hit a leadoff home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Global Federal Credit Union to a 5-4 victory over M&L Construction Monday night in American Legion baseball at Shadle Park’s Al K. Jackson Field.

Chad Johnson’s RBI single capped a six-run seventh inning as Kimmel Athletic Supply rallied to beat Hillyard Boosters 11-10.

Pat Stookey’s RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted East Valley Merchants past Maxwell House 5-4.

Keith Osso had three hits for EV, which got a strong seven innings from starting pitcher Brian Lemarche.

Junior golf

Kyle Kelly shot a 67 to take a 6-stroke lead in the Boys 15-17 division of the Washington Junior Golf Association’s District Tournament at the Spokane Country Club.

In girls action, Britney Holt shot a 78 to take an 8-stroke lead over Jennifer Hatley in the 15-17 division.

At the Independent Insurance Agent Junior Classic in Yakima, Joe Korn of Tukwila and Jess Daley of Kent each earned berths to the Big “I” Independent Insurance Agents Junior Classic in Nashville, Tenn.

Youth soccer

Nick Bozo’s goal with 8 minutes remaining gave the Spokane Breakers a 1-1 tie with the San Francisco Vikings in the opening round of the U-14 Boys USA Cup in Minneapolis.
