‘Friends’ Captures Top Spot

NBC’s Thursday night twosome of “Friends” and “Seinfeld” captured the top two spots in the Nielsen ratings last week.

“Friends” was the No. 1 show with a 15.0 rating/26 share, according to Nielsen ratings released Tuesday.

NBC won the week with a 7.7 rating, followed by ABC and CBS in a tie for second (7.2), Fox (4.5), UPN (1.7) and WB (1.6).

A rating point equals 954,000 television households. A share is the percentage of TV sets tuned to a particular program.

Here are the top 10 primetime programs for July 3-9, their networks, ratings and shares.

1. “Friends” (rerun) NBC 15.0/26

2. “Seinfeld” (rerun) NBC 14.4/26

3. “Grace Under Fire” (rerun) ABC 13.4/25

4. “Roseanne” (rerun) ABC 13.2/23

5. “ER” (rerun) NBC 12.5/23

5. “NBC Sunday Night Movie” (rerun) ABC 12.5/22

7. “20/20” ABC 12.2/24

8. “Primetime Live” ABC 11.8/22

9. “60 Minutes” (rerun) CBS 11.0/23

9. “CBS Sunday Movie” (rerun) CBS 11.0/19
