Idaho To Induct Famous People

From Staff And Wire Reports

Such famous names as William Borah, Harmon Killebrew and Chief Joseph will be among 11 honored next month at the first induction ceremony for Idaho’s Hall of Fame.

The Idaho’s Hall of Fame Association plans an Aug. 15 banquet in Pocatello for the inaugural inductions, with U.S. Sen. Larry Craig as master of ceremonies.

The inductees or representatives will receive a plaque from the association as acknowledgment of their success. A second plaque for each inductee will be on display at the Pocatello City Hall until the Hall of Fame museum is built.

Besides Borah, the late U.S. senator known as the Lion of Idaho; Killebrew, the Hall of Fame slugger for the Minnesota Twins; and Chief Joseph, the great Nez Perce Indian leader; the first group of inductees includes the late Lana Turner, the movie star from Wallace who died earlier this month; Sacajawea, the Indian who helped lead explorers Lewis and Clark through the Northwest; authors Patrick McManus and the late Vardis Fisher; Philo Farnsworth, inventor of the television; and business leaders J.R. Simplot and the late Harry Morrison and Joe Albertson.
