Driver In Fatal Wreck May Have Fallen Asleep

From Staff And Wire Reports

The Burien, Wash., man who was killed early Monday after losing control of a tractor-trailer near Ritzville may have fallen asleep at the wheel, authorities said.

Washington State Patrol Sgt. Chris Powell said Donald R. Lorig, 32, was eastbound on Interstate 90 just east of the Schrag rest area at 7 a.m. when his truck drifted off the roadway into a median and then rolled over.

Destroyed in the accident was a press unit intended for The Spokesman-Review. The unit must be manufactured from scratch in Japan and it may take 60 days or more to do so.
