Park’s Butterflies To Be Repaired

From Staff And Wire Reports

Riverfront Park’s grounded butterflies should be in the air again by Aug. 9.

The giant blue butterfly was downed by winds in February. The yellow one, though it was not grounded by winds, was also damaged and later taken down for repairs.

Cost of repairing both butterflies is an estimated $25,000. About $6,000 will come out of Riverfront Park’s operating budget. The rest is being donated by various contractors.

There will also be improvements to make the 40-foot relics from Expo ‘74 more durable, city officials said.
