Corporate Earnings Reports Could Quell Market Rally

Compiled By Business Staff

(From For the Record, Tuesday, July 18, 1995): A notice in the Monday business page concerning the business persons special Spokane Indians afternoon baseball game listed the wrong date of the event. The event begins with a picnic at 2 p.m. on July 26, followed by the game. For information, call the Spokane Area Chamber of Commerce at 459-4111.

Investors will watch anxiously this week to see if corporate earnings reports add fuel to the stock market rally or douse it with cold water.

The closely watched Dow Jones industrial average is up 1,000 points since Thanksgiving, gaining about 150 points this month alone.

But analysts say disappointing corporate earnings could lead some investors to cash out profits, lowering the market. Among the major companies scheduled to release financial results this week are Chrysler Corp., General Motors Co., International Business Machines Corp. and Ford Motor Co.
