Drivers Should Watch For Logging

From Staff And Wire Reports

People heading to favorite camping and fishing spots in Boundary County may encounter some heavy logging traffic on the back roads, the U.S. Forest Service warned Monday.

Log hauling operations are starting on Trout Creek Road No. 634 in the Selkirk Mountains and on Tungsten Mountain Roads No. 2266 and 2485.

“Everyone needs to be aware of the potential for meeting other traffic on somtimes narrow roadways,” said Debbie Henderson-Norton, the Bonners Ferry District ranger.

Between 15 and 30 loads of logs will be hauled out of the two areas daily for the rest of the summer. Drivers in the area are advised to use CB radio channel 22 to monitor traffic.
