Jurors See Simpson Exercise Video

Philadelphia Inquirer

Challenging the defense contention that O.J. Simpson was too enfeebled by old football injuries to commit murder, prosecutors Monday showed jurors excerpts of a commercial exercise video Simpson made less than three weeks before the slashing deaths of his ex-wife and her friend.

In the Playboy “Minimal Maintenance” video, a smiling Simpson led a troop of young extras through a series of limbering exercises, low-impact aerobics and pushups that he enthusiastically recommended “for all you ex-jocks, weekend athletes and even you couch potatoes.”

Several times during the taping, Simpson could be heard complaining that some of the exercises posed problems “because of my bad knee.”

But prosecutors contend that the video, shot May 24-27, 1994, proves that Simpson was physically capable of committing the June 12, 1994 murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman.

And Dr. Robert Huizenga, a Beverly Hills, Calif., physician and former team doctor for the Los Angeles Raiders, told jurors that despite the physical limitations left by an 11-year pro football career, Simpson “certainly has the power” to have committed the crimes.
