State Gets Grant To Study Lead Paint
The state is getting a federal grant of $200,000 to study the extent of exposure of Idaho children to lead-based paint.
Some officials believe exposure to lead in paint is the nation’s top environmental threat to children.
The state Department of Health and Welfare will determine the level of exposure to lead-based paint and if that level is consistent with the rest of the country.
The state hopes to be able to identify the problem, train a pool of qualified professionals to deal with lead-based paint and make people aware of the need to reduce exposure.
