Road Repaving Delaying Traffic

Bring your patience. Expect delays.

Two repaving projects are putting drivers behind the stop side of the flagger’s pole on U.S. Highway 95 in the Coeur d’Alene area this week. Although the inconvenience is supposed to last a maximum of 15 minutes, drivers reported longer waits Monday.

Crews are working evenings to try to minimize the effects on daytime traffic, said Dave Fields, an Idaho Transportation Department engineer.

The first project runs about two miles, from the Spokane River Bridge north to Neider Avenue. That $290,000 job started Monday and is being done by Coeur d’Alene Asphalt Co.

Traffic delays start about 7 p.m., Fields said, and work runs until 6 a.m. The repaving is expected to be finished Saturday morning.

Interstate Asphalt and Concrete Co. also is repaving 5.2 miles of U.S. 95 from Wyoming Avenue to Ohio Match Road. Similar traffic delays are taking place. That $250,000 project should be finished Friday. , DataTimes
