Man Charged With Possessing Bomb

From Staff And Wire Reports

An Idaho man was booked for investigation of possession of an explosive device after what appeared to be a pipe bomb was found in the trunk of his car, the Spokane County sheriff’s office said Saturday.

The explosive disposal unit was called to the scene at Fancher Road and Trent Avenue in the Spokane Valley to remove the device, Lt. Dave Wiyrick said.

The incident occurred Wednesday when deputies pulled over a car driven by Jeremy R. Oscarson, 23, of Oldtown, Idaho.

A search of the vehicle turned up a handgun, drug paraphernalia, marijuana and methamphetamine residue, Wiyrick said.

In addition to possession of an explosive device, Oscarson also was booked for investigation of carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and driving with a suspended license, Wiyrick said.

Oscarson’s passenger, James L. Dempsey, 52, of Spokane, was booked for investigation of possession of a controlled substance.
