Rental Car Firms Boost Rates $5 A Day

Taking its cue from Hertz Corp., Alamo Rent A Car announced Wednesday it will also raise prices on all vehicle rentals by $5 a day in the United States.

The move by the Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.-based agency comes one day after Hertz, the world’s largest rental car company, said it would raise its rates.

Dollar-Rent-A-Car and Avis both said they were studying the move and expect to follow suit.
