Otto Schmidt Spokane

Otto Herman Schmidt, Spokane, is 102 years old today.

Born July 28, 1893, in Ada Vista, Iowa, he has lived at Alderwood Manor the past seven years.

He married his wife Marie on July 3, 1916. She died in 1990.

They were the parents of three sons, Edward, Alfred and Lester.

Otto Schmidt farmed for 75 years, and briefly worked as a butcher.

He has six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and five great, great-grandchildren.

When asked to what he attributes his longevity, he replied, “honesty and believing in the Ten Commandments.”
