The U.S. Olympic Festival track meet begins today and will include triple jumpers Mike Conley and Al Joyner, decathletes Dave Johnson and Dan O’Brien - although neither is competing in the decathlon - and 400-meter sprinter Quincy Watts.

Jamie Redd of San Francisco scored 16 points as the West beat the South 56-46 in a women’s basketball game. Heather Owen of Stanford and Moscow, Idaho, added 10 points for the West (1-1), while Umeki Webb of North Carolina State had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the South (0-2).
