Dui Death Brings Suit

Associated Press

The family of a woman who died after an April 14 car accident has sued a Boise restaurant for selling a drink to the other driver.

Audrey Ann Patrick, 36, allegedly bought a drink at The Dutch Goose in Boise before getting into her car and colliding with Sharon Brinkley Hodges’ car.

Patrick was charged with vehicular manslaughter and was scheduled to appear in court today.

The complaint alleges that restaurant employees sold alcohol to Patrick when they “ought reasonably to have known she was obviously intoxicated.”

Idaho law says a business that sells alcohol to an obviously intoxicated person or a minor can be sued in cases of injury, death or other damages.
