Egghead Job Fairs Begin On Monday

Michael Murphey Staff Writer

Egghead Software will conduct the first of three series of job fairs next week to fill positions in Spokane as the company prepares to transfer its corporate headquarters from the Seattle area.

Egghead will conduct three sessions each day on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at the ART Bingo Hall, 8307 E. Trent. The sessions will begin at 8 a.m., 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.

“We will be filling 40 to 50 positions out of this first job fair,” Holly Shugarts, Egghead’s corporate recruiter, said Friday.

The company estimates it will eventually hire up to 200 local people in its corporate relocation.

Shugarts said next week’s sessions will fill jobs in the company’s finance and information services departments.

The finance positions to be filled include general accounting, sales auditing, cash management, tax work and accounts payable positions.

Information services openings include systems analyst jobs, help desk analyst jobs and telecommunications technicians.

Through this job fair, the company also hopes to find an internal audit manager and an operations manager. A paralegal position is also open.

Shugarts said each candidate is expected to bring a resume.

Training for those hired in the finance department will begin Aug. 28. Training for other positions will begin in September.

“We’re trying to build in one week of time to do reference checks, and enough time to allow people to give two weeks notice to their current employers,” Shugarts said.

A second fair, tentatively set to begin Aug. 21, will include merchandizing, advertising, education and direct response positions. A third fair, tentatively set to begin Sept. 5, will involve more information services positions, as well as store operations, distribution and real estate positions.
