Man Arrested At White House

Compiled From Wire Services

A man trying to enter the White House with a group of people invited to a staff party Friday was arrested by the Secret Service and charged with unlawful entry, officials said.

Milan Sviatko, 24, also was being held on a charge of disorderly conduct after he was stopped by uniformed officers at the White House gate while trying to mingle with a group entering the grounds, said Mike Tarr, a Secret Service spokesman.

President Clinton was inside the house at the time.

Tarr said Sviatko had no weapon and made no threats. A hearing before a federal magistrate is scheduled for Monday.
