Revival Will Focus On Faith

A Valley-based ministry group is trying to get churches of different denominations to come together and focus on their common Christian faith.

“The basic message is to focus on Jesus and the Holy Spirit,” said the Rev. Timothy Sherman, senior pastor of Eagles Nest Ministries International, 12015 E. Trent.

The group will host a four-day revival meeting called “Catch the Fire II” starting Thursday. Services will be held at 7 p.m. each night through Sunday. There will also be a 10 a.m. service each day starting Friday.

Sherman expects about 500 people to show up each night. He said similar events have drawn not just ordinary folks, but many pastors from surrounding towns as well.

The keynote speaker will be Larry Randolph, a nationally-known speaker affiliated with the Vineyard Church. Other speakers will be Debbie Keil and Sherman and his wife, Deborah.

For registration information, call 927-1491.

Film shown at Crossroads

Crossroads Baptist Church, 509 N. Sullivan Road, will show the film “Come the Morning” Sunday at 6 p.m.

The films depicts the struggles of a mother and her three children as they travel from Texas to California in search of the children’s father, an alcoholic who abandoned the family with no explanation.

“The film’s theme is ‘How do you handle hurts like that? How do you go through difficult times?,”’ said the Rev. Tom Myers, the pastor of Crossroads. “It’s captivating. There’s always something going on.”

Admission is free. The film is a production of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

Country music at Calvary

Calvary Chapel of the Spokane Valley, 16409 E. Broadway, will host a concert featuring Christian country recording artist Ken Holloway on Sunday, Aug. 6.

The concert starts at 7 p.m.

The church is trying to get the word out early - Holloway’s song “Runs in the Blood” was named the County Christian Music Association’s Song of the Year in 1994.

Crystal Rose, concert organizer for the church and a recording artist herself, said she’s seen Holloway before and liked the show.

“He has a lot of charisma,” Rose said. “He’s real good with the crowd, and that’s important.”
