Valley Church Welcomes Pastor

Joe Ehrbar Correspondent

On July 2, the Rev. Rod Marshall became the new pastor of Opportunity Free Methodist Church, 1313 S. Pines.

He succeeded the Rev. Ivan Timm, who has moved on to a parish in Mount Vernon, Wash.

Marshall, who holds a master’s degree in religion, comes to Spokane from Yakima, where he was pastor of the Yakima Free Methodist Church. He has been in the ministry 16 years.

A desire to be in a more metropolitan setting figured into his decision to move to Spokane.

Concert for singles

Singles United Northwest, an organization ministering to Christian singles, hosts its annual summer potluck and praise concert at City Park in Coeur d’Alene at 4 p.m. today.

The event is to promote “godly living” and to facilitate educational and spiritual growth, a spokesman said. Most of all, it is intended to unite singles of different backgrounds and denominations.

The concert, which starts at 7 p.m., will feature the Koinonia House Praise Band.

Admission is free.
