National forests

Topics ranging from wildflowers to weeds will be topics for free slide shows presented by Colville National Forest experts next month.

Programs in the new “Summer Family Adventure Series” are scheduled as follows for Thursday evenings beginning at 7 p.m. at the Colville High School Auditorium.

Aug. 3 - “Trees of the Colville National Forest” by Jay Berube, silviculturist.

Aug. 10 - “Common wildflowers of Northeast Washington” by Kathy Ahlenslager, botanist.

Aug. 17 - “History and Archaeology of the Colville” by Dan Mattson, archaeologist.

Aug. 31 - “Noxious Weed Identification and Control” by Ellen Picard, range conservationist.
