Motorcyclist Killed, 3 Hurt

From Staff Reports

An Athol man died early Saturday morning when the motorcycle he was riding skidded into a curve on Potlatch Hill Road.

Joshua Durr, 22, was riding a 1986 Yamaha motorcycle behind 33-year-old John West, who was on a 1993 Honda motorcycle. Each man had a teenage girl riding with him.

About 3 a.m. Saturday, West lost control and slammed into a guardrail a half-mile north of Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive, Idaho State Police reported. He laid the bike down and slid about 100 feet.

Durr did the same and died at the scene, police said. West was treated and released from Kootenai Medical Center.

The two girls, Janine Croston, 17, of Kellogg, and Stephanie Dillon, 15, also of Shoshone County, were the only ones wearing helmets.

Croston was admitted to Kootenai Medical Center with internal injuries. Dillon suffered a broken leg.
