Power Outage Plunges Millions Into Dark
A power outage plunged northeastern India into darkness Saturday, shutting down hospitals and stopping trains in their tracks.
The outage, which affected millions of people, began at 8:40 p.m. in 10 states. Hospitals in Calcutta were without power for a few hours until electricity could be diverted from other regions. Some long-distance trains also came to a halt.
Authorities had no immediate explanation for the power failure.
