Fox’s Status Unclear

Compiled From Wire Services

A neurosurgeon said it may take several more days to determine the extent of the brain injury to race driver Stan Fox, who has not regained consciousness since a first-lap crash in the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday.

Fox remained in critical but stable condition with the injury. He underwent one operation on Sunday to remove a blood clot from the brain, and the main treatment now is to prevent swelling, Dr. Kenneth L. Renkens said.
